Casper Fitzhue (b.1990) is a visual artist and writer
preoccupied with the medium, mass media, and mediating.
His work often has him playing the role of an artist.
His methods often have him acting as director.
Hence the working title: Art, Director.
A lot of Fitzhue's work begins with typing words or making images,
language being at the physical and poetic centre of his work.
During extensive collaborative ops called "umbrella projects",
original content sometimes slips into another medium:
Word becomes image,
then image becomes book,
words become sound,
sound becomes soundtrack to a video,
a video becomes an installation.
The work is rarely put to rest and is testimony to the ebb and flow of others.
Bringing both artists and differently skilled people together,
Fitzhue encourages creative dialogue & production within his work.
Clearly, he enjoys his role as an artistic mediator.
In his writing,
which sometimes serves as background for a project,
but sometimes surfaces as the artwork itself,
he is interested in lexical specificity,
the potential of words to emote
and experimentations with the use of pause, correction, and punctuation...
In general, he is against the mystifying forces of art/ literary criticism.
Most recently he became interested in the spectacle of exhibiting,
figuring out where the artwork ends and its presentation begins.
Born in Romania, he has been based in Belgium
since 2015 but can be sometimes found in
As well as other cities that begin with the letter B.
